Why a Catamaran, Not a Monohull?
We've opted for a catamaran for purely practical reasons. The Caribbean anchorages can be less forgiving and are often more exposed to open swell.
Stability is Key: The twin-hull design provides significantly more stability at anchor. Translation: less rolling, less seasickness, and you can sleep better through the night.
Shallow Draft Access: With its minimal draft, the Lucia 40 allows us to reach shallow, secluded spots that are simply off-limits to deeper monohulls. It's the best way to get away from the pack and access the genuinely desirable, unspoiled beaches.
Space and Comfort: This boat offers a decent compromise between sailing ability and live-aboard comfort. While it won't break any speed records, you get substantial living space, which is perhaps more important when you're sharing quarters for a week.
